1. Eating too much
Overindulging in food is the fastest way to become overweight. Research shows that overweight people are at a higher risk of developing heart diseases like hypertension and heart attack. A few things you can do to keep your weight in check includes; eating smaller food portions, reducing your intake of junk food and swapping out soft drinks with water.
2. Being lazy
If you enjoy lazing around all day watching TV or sleeping, then you are putting your heart in danger. It is important for you to get your heart pumping by indulging in exercise regularly. Even if you can’t do intense workouts you can do simple things like; taking a walk, using stairs instead of an elevator, walking short distances instead of using a cab or playing sports with friends. Living an active and energetic life helps your heart muscles become stronger and healthier.
There are many things that can get you stressed, however, you should not dwell too much on them. Stress badly affects your heart as overstressing can lead to heart attacks and high blood pressure. It’s normal to feel stressed but don’t let it dwell in you for too long. A few ways you can manage stress include; listening to music, talking with friends, exercising and sleeping.
4. Not brushing your teeth before bed
There’s are reason why you are advised to brush twice daily: when you wake and before you sleep. You might wonder, what does brushing teeth at night have to do with a healthy heart? The answer is that failure to brush at night causes bacteria to buildup in the mouth. These bacteria then go into your body system and causes inflammation. Inflammation of the body puts you at a greater risk of developing heart diseases and other critical health conditions.
If you have been indulging in these habits, then it is time for you to make a change in your lifestyle. Remember that you can only live long and achieve your goals if you have a healthy heart.
